Hotel Information

Philipburn Country House Hotel was in former times the Dower House to the Philiphaugh Estate. Built in 1751 by the Strang-Steel family of the Philiphaugh Estate, the house was the family home until 1845 when it was then let out to tenants. The family moved back to Philipburn in 1885. The Philipburn was sold to be converted into a hotel in 1972 and the current owners Ian and Marie Wells took over in October 2007. The lounge fireplace features one of the original beams of the house carved with the date of the building. Surrounded by gardens and woodland the Philipburn enjoys a tranquil setting on the edge of the border town of Selkirk. |
